GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — A 26-year-old man was convicted of sexual assault involving a minor on Friday, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

William I. McCray, of Monroe Township, was found guilty as part of a plea deal on charges of first-degree manufacturing child sexual abuse material, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

In October 2025, a minor reported to police that McCray sexually assaulted them.

Authorities carried out a search warrant at his home and found controlled dangerous substances, drug paraphernalia, and multiple cell phones.

A forensic review of the phones showed more than 100 images and 40 videos that depicted child sexual abuse material.

Another victim was identified in the files, interviewed, and said they were also assaulted by McCray.

More victims were identified in more of those materials and chat messages.

McCray was arrested at his home on Dec. 3, 2025, and charged with 26 total counts.

The state is recommending a sentence of 15 years in jail. He would be required to serve 85 percent of the term before being eligible for parole.

State officials are also seeking an additional three years to be served consecutively, lifetime parole supervision, registration as a sex offender under Megan's Law, and contact prohibited with any victims.

McCray is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 13.

"While no outcome can undo the harm caused to the victims, today's plea deal delivers accountability and justice," said Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns.
