NJ Race Car Driver Fighting Brain Bleeds After Serious Crash
He was taken to Cooper's Trauma Center.
LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Crate Modified race car driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after a crash at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday, according to extreme and combat sports outlet FloSports.
George Schweigart, of Woodhull, was taken to Cooper University Hospital's Trauma Center with a neck and back fracture, his mom Cathy shared on Facebook.
"We want to thank EVERYONE who has reached out to our family!" Cathy added, "So many prayers, offers to come help us, calls, messages, visits...it's overwhelming, but SO appreciated!!!"

Her son continues to fight in recovery from two brain bleeds and three bruises on his brain.
He is in and out of sedation and not responding well to directions such as replicating hand movements or blinking eyes, Cathy said.

"Please know we appreciate all of you!" she added, "Just know we are so grateful for the support and love we are receiving!!!"
The family said they will continue updates surrounding George's status as more come available.
"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the Schweigart family during this difficult time," his hometown track, Woodhull Raceway, added in support on social media.
"Keep fighting bro, and fans, please keep those prayers coming!" Outlaw staff wrote on Facebook.
Along with Bridgeport and Woodhull, George is also a frequent competitor at New York's Outlaw Speedway.
