PHL 17 Reporter Fired After Tirade Against Cop Caught On Camera

PHILADELPHIA – A PHL 17 reporter from Woodbury, New Jersey was arrested after unleashing a curse-ridden tirade against a Philadelphia Police officer that was captured on camera. PHL 17 reporter Colleen Campbell allegedly assaulted staffers at a comedy club Sunday, including attempting to spit on the manager, according to police and witness accounts. Authorities say she later assaulted the officer after the video ended, kicking him several times as well as kicking the police patrol car.

Comedian Will Sylvince shared a video to his Facebook page early Monday morning showing Campbell lashing out at the officer outside the Helium Comedy Club on Sansom Street.

Campbell, 28, can be seen see cursing at the officer, calling him and police in general various insults we won't write here.

According to police, Campbell has been charged with felony criminal mischief; felony hindering apprehension; terroristic threats; simple assault; resisting arrest; failure to disperse; and disorderly conduct.

She is set to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 13, court records show. She was released on her own recognizance Monday, according to court records.

Police said Campbell was arrested after they were called to the club at about 9 p.m. Sunday and found Campbell outside the club asking for a refund after being removed from the club.

Sylvince said on Facebook it all started when Campbell was allegedly whispering loudly as comedian and actor Craig Robinson (who you might know from "The Office") was performing standup at the club.

Sylvince said she was warned three times to stop, but didn't.

"After 3 warnings and other customers were complaining she was asked to leave. When she got kicked out she assaulted (kicking, punching, and eye poking) 3 of the employees in bar area right outside the showroom and then outside she mock spit in the mangers face when a cop came," Sylvince wrote on Facebook. "She verbally abused this poor cop who was trying to keep the peace at first."

Police said Campbell was cursing and spit at a the club manager and was then taken into custody.

Police said she then kicked an officer in the leg several times while being taken to the patrol car, then kicked the door and windows of the patrol car after being placed inside.

Philly Magazine reports Campbell has been fired from PHL 17 and spoke with Campbell in a phone interview.

"That’s not me or how I talk or act or anything at all," she told the magazine. "I don’t know what to do. I feel ruined and embarrassed for me and my family."

Campbell told the magazine she had one drink at the club, but had a few before attending the show, and thinks she may have been drugged.
