RCGC, American Association for Women in Community Colleges Bring New Leadership Program to New Jersey
Sponsored by the Center For American Women And Politics.

Deptford - Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) and the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) will be sponsoring students to attend the NEW Leadership™ New Jersey program, hosted by the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP).
The six-day residential program, taking place June 3-9, is designed to help college women accrue the skills, knowledge and experience to help them become effective public leaders. Workshops and panels for the program include: Women in Public Leadership, Careers in State Government, How You Can Get Involved, Effective Presentation and Communication and Leadership Styles.
“Alumnae of the program tell us it has changed their lives,” observed NEW Leadership™ program manager Sasha Patterson. “They leave here with greater confidence that they can get involved in the political system and make a difference. Some will go on to run for office, while others will make a difference on their own campuses and in their communities”

This year, NEW Leadership™ is introducing the Hazel Gluck Award, which will be presented to a NEW Leadership™ New Jersey alumna who has used the knowledge and experience gained from NEW Leadership™ to inspire others and make a difference. The award is named for Hazel Frank Gluck, a well-respected figure in New Jersey and beyond for her distinguished public service career including elected and appointed positions, highlighted by service in Governor Thomas Kean’s cabinet. The first annual Hazel Frank Gluck Award will be presented at the NEW Leadership™ New Jersey keynote dinner on Friday, June 5.
The AAWCC has agreed to sponsor at least one student for the program, helping mitigate costs for room and board during the six-day residency. Applications for the program are being accepted now until March 30.
