RiverWinds Closure Continues; New West Deptford Coronavirus Case

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — Officials in West Deptford announced that the RiverWinds Community Center remains closed as the number of positive new coronavirus cases in the township increased by one on Monday.

A 75-year-old West Deptford woman was among 17 more cases of coronavirus identified throughout Gloucester County on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 89.

It is the fourth case in West Deptford. Trace investigations into all new cases are underway. At this time, the overall threat of coronavirus to Gloucester County residents remains low.

Gloucester County is expecting cases to rise. Social distancing is critical in flattening the curve and reducing cases. A mask should only be worn if a healthcare professional recommends it.

Officials had previously announced that RiverWinds would be closed through the end of March. On Monday, that closure was extended until further notice.

This includes all activities, rentals, existing utility use applications, and any/all West Deptford Township fields (including the West Deptford Player Development Building), according to officials.

RiverWinds will not process any bill payments for April. All memberships that are paid in full will be extended for the duration of time lost due to the current closure.

“We have been in contact with and will continue communication with county, state and federal officials,” township officials said in a statement. “As we receive any new information, we will continue to post it to the West Deptford Township and RiverWinds Community Center website and social media platforms.”
