Rowan College at Gloucester County Establishes Safety Exercises
Security, personnel and local law enforcement came together to discuss future campus safety protocol.

Deptford Twp. – Safety and preparedness were the topic of conversation during a Crisis Communication Tabletop Exercise at Rowan College at Gloucester County in late December as security, facilities personnel and administrators discussed logistics and procedures to better keep the campus protected.
Local law enforcement, which included the Deptford Police Department, Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office and two members of the Camden County Bomb Squad, provided insight and information on their involvement and methods during crisis situations. Leading the three-hour training session was Nelson W. Wiest of Q.E.D. Consulting in Sewell, a consulting, staffing and training company specializing in developing and implementing workplace safety.
“Taking these steps is something that you do not see every day — being proactive as opposed to being reactive,” said Wiest. “Rowan College is ahead of the curve because of the planning and preparedness going on.”
