South Jersey Coach Stole $14K From Girl's Youth Sports Team: Cops

A New Jersey man who was both a coach and treasurer stole $14,000 from a girl's softball team, police reported this week. The man was reportedly caught in a scam in which he was "talking to a woman overseas" and sending her money.
William P. Neimeister, 65, of Washington Township was charged and released pending a future court date, police said.
Neimeister was arrested after police say they received a report that a treasurer from one of the Washington Township Lady Wildcats softball teams was allegedly stealing money from the softball team account.

The allegation was that, between May of 2016 and February of this year, Neimeister made unapproved cash withdraws and debit card purchases for personal gain, police said. The amount of money stolen was approximately $14,000.00.
An investigation began after a league official told police he discovered in March that $7,260 was missing from the team’s account, according to nj.com. He reported that he learned Neimeister was “caught in a scam online where he believed that he was talking to a woman overseas,” and was sending her money, according to nj.com.

The league official also told police that he learned Neimeister had asked a relative for $20,000, accoding to nj.com. Concerned that the coach and treasurer was desperate for cash, the official checked the team account and found that money was missing, according to nj.com.
“The Wildcats team affected is currently in good standings, as all funds for this season were returned,” leage officials told nj.com. “WTPR Softball is in complete cooperation with the authorities and officials in this matter to help resolve this issue.”
On April 23, the Washington Township Investigative Bureau personnel arrested Neimeister.
