Violent Knife-Point Purse Snatching Caught On Camera, Suspect Arrested
A South Jersey man who was captured on camera holding a knife to an elderly woman's neck, then stealing her purse has been arrested.
An arrest has been made following a violent South Jersey purse snatching that was captured on camera. The incident happened on July 21 around 3 p.m., when the suspect, now identified as Jamal Gadson, approached an elderly woman and held a knife to her neck in Winslow Township.
Police say the 78-year-old female victim was walking home in the Lehigh Manor Development of Sicklerville, when Gadson approached her and removed a hunting knife from his pocket. Upon feeling the knife on her neck, the victim turned around, and Gadson grabbed her purse and ran away.
The victim told police the purse contained $20 and her credit cards.

Gadson, 36, was arrested a week later, after he was observed by patrol officers walking in the area wearing the same clothes the day of the crime.

Investigation revealed that Gadson had active warrants for his arrest and was an NCIC hit out of Camden County, police said. He was arrested on the outstanding warrants and later interviewed. The victim's purse and knife were located in his residence after it was searched with consent.
He's charged with 1st degree armed robbery, 3rd degree possession of a weapon and related charges.
Gadson was processed on a warrant without incident committed to the Camden County Jail, police said.
