West Deptford Committee Debate Details Decided

The three campaigns will take the stage in mid-October.

The debate is on.

After a lengthy series of emails over the past two weeks, representatives for the three campaigns in the West Deptford Township Committee race hammered out the final details at Wednesday night, aiming for one of a pair of dates in the middle of October.

According to the guidelines put together by the three campaigns, the debate will consist of both questions from a formal moderating panel, as well as a public forum in town hall style, with members of the audience participating in a half-hour question-and-answer session.

While the as possible dates at the , the campaigns settled on a 7 p.m. start at the high school auditorium on Oct. 17 or 18, both weeknights, which school officials indicated were both available.

The campaigns agreed on John Barna, editor of the Gloucester County Times, serving as moderator and one of three panelists, with the other two panelists to be drawn from local news outlets. The Democrats have put forth a pair of possibilities–Gina Bittner of the Times and Patch editor Bryan Littel–for one of the panel members, and the Republicans are set to propose a third panelist at some point today.
