A wild offensive night ended on a hit that only went a few feet, as clawed back to beat Erial, 19-18, in eight innings Friday night to escape the loser's bracket and score a berth in the Section 4 finals. With Jared Schultes on first, Tommy Sampson, who had hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth to tie up the game, dinked a grounder just in front of the pitcher's mound. Erial's battery collided going for the ball, and the ensuing throw sailed into the outfield, giving the speedy Schultes the chance to race around and score to end a crazy back-and-forth game, which started off with each team scoring four runs in the first and never slowed down. Check back later Saturday morning for the full recap of West Deptford's win, as they prepare to face Monroe at home at 6 p.m. in the first of potentially two games for the sectional title. West Deptford will have to win Saturday to force the if game Sunday, which would also be at home at 6 p.m.
