West Deptford-Massachusetts Postponed at Eastern Regional

Thunderstorms rolled in at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and wreaked havoc on the schedule at the Senior League Eastern Regional.

West Deptford will have to wait a little more than 12 hours for its second-round game with Massachusetts, after severe weather forced a nearly three-hour delay in the third game of the day.

The Eagles will now play at 9 a.m. Monday in the winner's bracket semifinals against Auburn, MA, which owns the most lopsided win of the last 22 years at the tournament in a 35-0 first-round victory over Maine.

With Pennsylvania-Delaware's restart not slated until well after 9 p.m., tournament officials made the call just before 8:30 p.m. to delay the final game of the night.

The delay puts extra weight on winning—whoever loses the West Deptford-Massachusetts game will have to return to Union Field later in the day against either New York or Maryland in an elimination game slated for 5 p.m.
