West Deptford Republican Chair Considers Election Over Following Candidate's Comments: Report
Mike Krawitz announced he was withdrawing from the race on Tuesday, but the clerk's office has not yet verified his signature.

West Deptford, NJ -- West Deptford Republican Club Chairman Bob Waller considers the race for two open seats on township committee to be “kaput” after candidate Mike Krawitz apparently withdrew from the race on Tuesday, the Courier Post reports.
The 41-year-old Krawitz apparently submitted a handwritten note saying he was withdrawing from the race after he came under fire for obscene comments directed at female Daily Beast reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
The Gloucester County Clerk’s Office hadn’t verified the signature late Tuesday afternoon, but Waller told the newspaper he considered the race to be over Tuesday night.

The note came after the Republican Club asked him to withdraw from the race, and said it would do anything to make sure he was removed from the ballot.
Krawitz had been running alongside Joann Priga against Democrats James Robinson and Megan Kerr in the Nov. 8 general elections.

Krawitz had expressed interest in the race after the June primaries, and was able to collect enough signatures to get on the ballot, according to the report. He and Priga were the only Republicans who stepped up to run in this year's contest in a town typically dominated by Democrats.
He has run for office at both the local and county levels four times in the last 10 years, including a failed bid for county freeholder in 2005, according to the report. Krawitz ran against now-state Senate President Stephen Sweeney in that race.
