West Deptford Senior Leaguers in District 15 Finals

West Deptford will face off against undefeated Paulsboro for the title in a best-of-three series.

A year after clinching the District 15 title and the host spot in the Senior League Eastern Regional, West Deptford is back and fighting for a shot at back-to-back regional appearances after making the district finals with a win over Oak Valley Friday night.

While it was the final game of pool play for both teams, it was also a de facto semifinal—with the two teams ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the single pool, the winner would advance to face undefeated Paulsboro.

With the game tied 1-1 into the middle innings, West Deptford had to mount a late comeback to beat Oak Valley, 8-4, and clinch the finals berth.

The challenge should be greater in the finals—Paulsboro beat West Deptford, 5-1, in their pool game, and has shut out two opponents and allowed just one run in two other games.

But West Deptford has won every time it's needed to. After an opening-round loss to Glassboro, the team won back-to-back games to climb back into contention.
