West Deptford Tax Bills Delayed By Extra State Aid
A bump in aid to schools statewide means the county won't get out tax rates until midweek or later.

What’s good for West Deptford schools is complicating things as far as third-quarter tax bills go.
The governor’s late addition of more than $400,000 to the school district’s state aid was welcome news, but that also created a delay in the county getting out final tax rate information.
School districts countywide have until Tuesday to figure out what to do with the extra state aid–West Deptford’s school board meets tonight, a day ahead of the deadline–before anything can happen.

“The county will not do any rates until everybody answers that on the 19th,” West Deptford treasurer Richard Giuliani said last week.
After the rates are approved, the township can get its tax bills printed and sorted, a process that will probably take until the end of the month.

“Hopefully I’m going to have that out by August 1st,” Giuliani said, referring to the final tax bills.
The unexpected bump in state aid to schools threw a wrench into what was otherwise routine, considering the .
“We thought we had plenty of time,” Giuliani said. “That’s just the system.”
Township administrator Eric Campo said there’d be an automatic extension for tax payments–25 days, according to Giuliani–given the delay in getting out the third-quarter bills.
