Woman Stabbed, Hospitalized Man In South Jersey: Police

They traveled together to attend a local social event, but it's unclear what led to the assault, authorities said.

FRANKLINVILLE, NJ — A woman was charged Monday after police say she stabbed and hospitalized a man in Gloucester County.

The suspect — a 26-year-old Woodbury woman — stabbed the 22-year-old victim in Franklin Township, police said. The man — a Newark, Delaware, resident — was listed in stable condition as of late Monday morning at Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Police haven't disclosed the names of anyone involved.

Officers were dispatched at 1:09 a.m. for a reported stabbing around S Broad Street and Route 55 in the Franklinville section of the township. Police found the victim inside his vehicle with a stab wound to his right forearm.

The officers applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding before the victim was taken to the hospital.

The victim and suspect had traveled to Franklin Township to attend a social event, but it's unclear what led to the incident, police said.

The suspect was charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses. She was placed in the Salem County Correctional Facility, which provides jailing services for Gloucester County, pending a detention hearing.

Police say they recovered the weapon used in the incident.
