2024 Tour De Westfield Registration Now Open

The free 2-mile family bike parade through Westfield will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8.

WESTFIELD, NJ —Registration is now open for Westfield’s 2024Tour de Westfield.

Westfield's 3rd annual family biking event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Side Train Station.

This free event is a 2-mile bike parade for Westfield families to encourage healthy movement and enjoying togetherness. Bike helmets must be worn.

Parking is available at the South Side Train Station lot. No parking at the North Side lot.

Registration closes on Sept. 4. T-shirts will be provided to everyone who registers before Aug. 25.

This event is sponsored by the Recreation Commission & Recreation Department in collaboration with the Westfield Police Department. Additionally, the event would not be a success without our volunteers from the Green Team, Bike Advisory Board, Jays Cycle's, and the Bike Coalition.

DAY OF EVENTS

  • Learn to Ride with EZRide - 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. & 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.: The Westfield Recreation Department is partnering with EZRide and offering free Bike Riding Lessons for Westfield children ages 5-10 to learn first approach, balance, and pedaling. Registration is required, as there are limited spots available for each session. All participants must bring the appropriate size bike and helmet. Helmets must be worn at all times. Registration is separate from Tour de Westfield Parade registration.
    • Requirements for the Learn to Ride Class: Ages 5-10 only. Parent and Adult Supervision Required during ClassP articipants must bring a properly sized bike with fully inflated tires. They must be able to place feet flat on the ground while seated. Participants must be wearing a helmet and sneakers during the class. No training wheels allowed.
  • Tour de Westfield Bike Parade – 11 a.m.: Bring your bikes and helmets and ride along with the Westfield Police Department on a family-friendly 2-mile bike parade. This parade is suitable for anyone that can ride a bike. Registration is required. The activities begin at 10 a.m. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early to pick up your free bike bag and line up for the parade. The parade will leave the North Side of the Train Station Parking Lot promptly at 11 a.m. Please Note: You must register for the Tour de Westfield Bike Parade.
  • WPD Bike Safety Rodeo – from 10 a.m. to Noon: Learn the elements of bike safety directly from Westfield Police Officers. You’ll learn how to make turns, what side of the street to ride on, and more. No registration required, just show up.
  • Jays' Cycle Center - from 10 a.m. to Noon: Have your bike checked to make sure it's safe to ride by the experts at Jay's Cycle
  • Accepting Used Bike Donations: Do you have old bikes taking up space in your garage? Bicycles that your children or even you, have outgrown? At the Tour de Westfield, we will be accepting donations of youth and adult, used, but operable, bicycles. All donations will be distributed to underprivileged communities to provide affordable, eco-friendly transportation and encourage active lifestyles.
