$50,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Union County

A $1 million winning ticket was sold in Newark while two $50,000 tickets were sold in Union and Middlesex counties.

ELIZABETH, NJ — A winning $1 million Powerball ticket that matched the 5 white balls to win the second-prize was sold in Newark, while two $50,000 third prize tickets were also sold in Union and Middlesex Counties for the Aug. 24 drawing, New Jersey lottery officials announced.

The $1 million winning ticket was purchased in Essex County at Sweet Maria’s Deli LLC, 100 Elm Rd., Newark. If that ticket had been purchased with Powerplay, it would have doubled the prize to $2 million.

The two $50,000 third prize tickets that matched the 4 white balls and the Powerball drawn were sold at:

  • Union County: Dollar Plus Elizabeth, LLC, 1000-G S Elmora Ave., Elizabeth; and
  • Middlesex County: Welsh Farms, 1 Schuyler Dr., Edison.

If those tickets had been purchased with the Powerplay option, they would have been worth $150,000 each.

The winning numbers for the Wednesday, Aug. 24 drawing were: 0 9 , 1 1 , 2 5 , 6 4 a n d 6 5. The Red Power Ball number was 16. The Multiplier number was 03.

Moreover, 25,800 New Jersey players took home an estimated $140,518 in prizes ranging from $4 to $300, according to Lottery Executive Director Carole Hedinger.
