STFIELD, NJ — As Memorial Day ceremonies took place across Westfield on Monday, the Town of Westfield Police Department highlighted another lasting tribute woven throughout the community itself: the town’s “Gold Star Streets.”
According to the police department, the streets were established to honor 18 Westfield residents — known as the “Supreme Honor Men” — who lost their lives during World War I.
More than a century later, streets across town still carry their names.
Officials also encouraged residents to learn more about the streets and the local soldiers they commemorate through information available on the town’s website.
