UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ — A 66-year-old woman was killed and two others were injured after a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction crashed into another car on Morris Avenue, according to authorities.
Police said the crash happened Thursday, June 25, around 5 p.m. near Colonial Avenue when a vehicle headed eastbound in the westbound lanes collided with an oncoming car.
The 66-year-old woman who was driving the other vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries, police said.
A 71-year-old man driving the wrong-way vehicle was also hospitalized. Officials said his condition has not been released. A third driver, a 24-year-old man, was also involved in the crash and suffered minor injuries.
Before the main collision, police said the wrong-way vehicle hit several other cars between a shopping center and a gas station along Morris Avenue. Those earlier impacts caused property damage, but no injuries were reported.
The woman who died has not yet been publicly identified.
No charges have been announced, and the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Union Township police at 908-851-5070.
