LINCOLN SCHOOL OF WESTFIELD CELEBRATES FIRST GRANDPARENT & SPECIAL PERSON DAY

On Thursday January 23rd Lincoln School of Westfield celebrated their first Grandparent & Special Person Day. Inspired by the September nationwide grandparents day begun by Marian McQuade, Lincoln "moved" the day to January to give new kindergartners the time to prepare an exceptional event, and this day was truly special for all involved.

Lincoln Kindergartners invited their grandparent(s) and/or favorite special person to hear 3 sentimental songs, led by music teacher Mrs Toulios, including A Bushel and a PeckWhat A Wonderful World, and The Grandparents Song, each replete with adorable gestures to emphasize the lyrics. Principal Audrey Zavetz then read two heartwarming poems, the first about grandmas and the second grandfathers. The event concluded in students' classrooms where grandparents got a glimpse of the children’s kindergarten world and were given a special poem and individually decorated handprint of their grandchild. What a wonderful way to celebrate and appreciate these very cherished relationships!
