The community is invited to Fairview Cemetery and Arboretum for an early morning bird observation walk, led by Pete Axelrod, a lifelong naturalist. Spring is a busy time for migrating birds, when a variety of species return to the north. Join fellow bird enthusiasts to observe some of these species on Saturday, May 9th to discover the thrilling sounds of songbirds in a pastoral setting of blossoming fruit trees and daffodils. Those interested are asked to gather at the back gate located on Gallows Hill Road at 8:00 am. Bring binoculars and wear walking shoes, as the grounds can be hilly. In the event of rain, the event will not be held.
Please register at Friendsoffairview1.org. Space is limited to 20 individuals, so make your reservation soon. Fairview Cemetery and Arboretum is located at 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield, NJ 07090. On premises parking is available.

Our speaker on Tuesday, May 5th, will be Gary Murakami focusing on the exploration of AI image creation in the last few years, including early stages from Adobe Firefly, through experimenting with many websites, to the current state of the art with NightCafe (the “AI Art Generator for AI artists, enthusiasts and content creators”). Many images will be used to give an overview of the creation process, composition, challenges, community, multiple image generation models, video, and additional AI tools. Gary, a member of Old Guard, spent the bulk of his career working as a computer scientist and software engineer at AT&amp;T Bell Labs and finally as a VP of Engineering.<figure><img src="https://cdn20.patchcdn.com/users/26763252/20260405/024113/image___05144112805.jpg" id="image.png" data-image="image.png"></figure>Gary MurakamiThe Summit Area Old Guard is a social, educational, and recreational organization that serves men of retirement age. Union County Torah Center–Chabad Announces Community-Wide Lag B’Omer Family Celebration in Westfield
Westfield, NJ — The Union County Torah Center–Chabad is inviting the community to come together for a lively and meaningful Lag B’Omer Family Celebration on Tuesday, May 5, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at its center located at 111 Laurel Place in Westfield. 
Lag B’Omer, a day that celebrates Jewish unity, joy, and resilience, will be marked with an event designed for families of all ages. The event will feature a wide range of attractions, creating a warm and festive atmosphere where community members can relax, connect, and celebrate together. 
Children and families will enjoy a moon-bounce, interactive sports and games provided by Throwback Sports, Magic Maurice featuring magic and balloon entertainment. The event will also include classic outdoor favorites such as a hot dog BBQ, sno-cones, and a traditional bonfire with marshmallow roasting, capturing the spirit of Lag B’Omer. 
“This is a day about bringing people together,”&nbsp; said organizers at the Union County Torah Center–Chabad. “Lag B’Omer has always been a time of joy and unity, and we’re excited to create an experience where families can feel that energy in a real and meaningful way.”
