People who need help with technical devices can sign up for a one-on-one 30-minute appointment with a librarian. Sessions are held in the Local History Room on the second floor. 
Topics can include tablets, computers or smartphones (connecting to the Internet, downloading apps etc.); downloading digital e-Books and e-audiobooks using Hoopla or Libby, and using the library’s databases/other resources like Pressreader, Kanopy, etc.
The librarian is unable to fill out forms/applications, provide legal/medical advice, or fix devices. She cannot help with creating social media profiles or anything associated with running, building, or editing personal blogs or websites. New Providence Presbyterian Church

Our speaker, Jerry Soloway, has been a consultant on submarine fiberoptic systems and technology for the past dozen years.Prior to this, he spent 29 years at Bell Labs working on the development of several diverse types of communications systems and devices. Submarine fiberoptic systems are the unsung heroes of the Internet, carrying as much as 99% of transoceanic data, dwarfing the traffic carried by satellite systems.They share much technology with their terrestrial counterparts, but there are many unique challenges to developing, installing, and maintaining these systems. In addition, there are threats to these systems that the world must recognize and combat. Fiberoptic systems can also be used as acoustic/seismic sensors, offering new applications for the millions of kilometers of existing fiber.<figure><img src="https://cdn20.patchcdn.com/users/26763252/20260831/012126/image___31132125606.jpg" id="image.png" data-image="image.png"></figure>Jerry SolowayThe Summit Area Old Guard is a social, educational, and recreational organization that serves men of retirement age. This lecture explores the way in which American landscape painting helped establish a national identity, while also providing commentary on the relationship between nature and humanity. Marvel at the works of Thomas Cole, Frederic Edwin Church, and Albert Bierstadt, and others, as we celebrate our nation’s history and natural beauty.
Presenter Mallory Mortillaro, art historian and educator, has ten years of teaching experience, and has worked on various art research projects for museums and organizations in the New York metropolitan area. WESTFIELD, N.J. — Union County Torah Center–Chabad will present “Family First: Why It Matters So Much,” an online class taught by Rabbi Levi Block, on Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.
From the Torah’s first commandment—“Be fruitful and multiply”—family has occupied a central place in Jewish life. This class will explore why building a family and bringing children into the world are considered fundamental parts of G-d’s plan for creation.
Participants will examine how Jewish thought understands the unique contribution each child makes to the purpose of existence and why the mitzvah of bringing new life into the world is viewed as a profound partnership with G-d in creation.
The class will also sensitively address the painful challenge of infertility and consider the Torah’s perspective on those who are unable to have children. Participants will discover how every Jew can share in the deeper purpose of this mitzvah by inspiring, teaching, supporting, and nurturing life—both physically and spiritually.
