Delpopolo's Olympic Dream Cut Short in Quarterfinals

The Judo champ lost to his top-seeded opponent from South Korea.

After winning his first two matches,, 23, member of the U.S. Olympic Judo Team, had his dream of being the first American to bring home the gold medal cut short in the quarterfinal round moments ago.

Delpopolo, of Westfield, fell to top-seeded Ki-Chun Wang, a two-time world champ, of South Korea in overtime this morning at the Excel Center in London. Delpopolo, ranked number one in the U.S. and 12th in the world, still has a chance to win the bronze. He faces Nyam-Ochir Sainjargal of Mongolia at approximately 9:30 a.m. for the right to advance to the bronze medal round.
