Driver, 8-Month-Old Child In Overturned 3-Car Crash In Westfield

The driver reportedly hit two parked cars on E Broad Street before overturning in Westfield.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A car with an eight-month-old child inside hit two parked cars and overturned in Westfield on Monday afternoon, said police.

At 2:20 p.m., Westfield Fire and Police departments were called to the 500 block of East Broad Street for an overturned vehicle with entrapment.

A vehicle driven by a 40-year-old woman from Roselle Park and traveling south on E. Broad Street hit two parked vehicles and rolled on its side, said Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro.

An 8-month-old male child was in a rear-facing child restraint in the vehicle and was not injured, said Battiloro.

The driver got out of the car on her own and sustained minor injury, specifically a complaint of pain, said Battiloro.

Westfield Firefighters rendered care to the injured people, stabilized the vehicle, applied speedy-dry, and awaited the tow company.

The woman and the baby were taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital by Union County Hazmat FMBA Local 99.

The investigation is currently under review by the Westfield Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau. No summons(es) have been issued at this time.
