Fawn Falls 8 Feet Into Basement Window Well, Rescued By Westfield Firefighters
Westfield Police Records Bureau Staff were working on Thursday when they heard a loud thump followed by whining behind their desks.
WESTFIELD, NJ — A fawn that fall about 8 feet into a basement window well was rescued by Westfield Firefighters on Thursday.
While working on June 1, Westfield Police Records Bureau Staff heard a loud thump followed by whining behind their desks, said Town of Westfield, NJ Fire Department
"When they turned around, they saw a fawn looking back at them through the window," said the fire department.

Firefighters said the fawn had fallen about 8 feet into a basement window well.
Police Officers went to the front of the building and found the mother deer looking down into the window well.

Westfield Fire Department Ladder 1 came out with Battalion Chief James Ryan, Firefighter John McCormack and Firefighter Jason Garcia. Firefighters used a ladder to remove the fawn from the window well.
"Once freed, the fawn took off across the Municipal Building lawn and went looking for its mother," said firefighters.
