Fire Causes Partial Roof Collapse At Auto Body Shop In Kenilworth
Heavy smoke and fire could be seen coming from the autobody shop when emergency responders arrived on Tuesday night.
KENILWORTH, NJ — A fire broke out on Tuesday night causing a partial roof collapse at an auto body shop in Kenilworth, said police.
On Tuesday, May 30 at 8:22 p.m., Kenilworth Police and Fire were called to an activated smoke alarm coming from Perfection Plus, an autobody shop, at 740 Federal Ave., said Kenilworth Police.
Multiple 911 calls also reported hearing what sounded like explosions coming from the shop, said police.

The shop was empty as it had been closed for the day since 6 p.m.

There were no reported injuries.
Kenilworth Fire along with fire departments from surrounding towns including Roselle Park, Cranford, and Garwood helped to extinguish the fire.
Members of the Union County Arson Squad were also called to investigate.
