Police Chase Forces Union County School Lockdown

The man, who was wanted for a domestic violence incident, ran from police after being spotted at the train station.

ROSELLE PARK, NJ — A police foot chase of a man wanted for domestic violence forced two schools to shelter-in-place on Monday in Roselle Park.

Just before 1 p.m., the Roselle Park Police were called to the Roselle Park Train Station for a man who was standing on the train platform and was believed to be wanted for a domestic violence incident that happened earlier in the day, said Roselle Park Police.

When police made contact with the man, he reportedly ran away on foot.

The suspect was seen running through residents' yards and looked like he was heading toward the Roselle Park Middle School and Robert Gordon Elementary School area, said police.

Both schools were placed into a shelter-in-place.

A short time later, officers found the suspect in the open field behind the Middle School, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

The shelter-in-place was lifted at both schools.
