Fore! PBA to Golf Monday

Annual fundraiser to benefit police group.

Teeing up to play a round of golf on a beautiful course with freshly mowed fairways, then coming into the club house for food and drinks. It is an ideal summer day.

Add a good cause on top of that, and the day becomes perfect.

The Westfield Police Benevolent Association is giving people the chance to do just that with their annual golf outing being held on Monday, August 23rd at the Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club in Scotch Plains.

Officer Gary Moore has been in charge of organizing the annual event for fifteen years, and has been a big reason for the success of the outing.

"The day is always a lot of fun," says Moore. "We always have over 100 golfers."

For $235 golfers will not only support the Westfield P.B.A. Local 90, but also get to play a round of golf, eat lunch, drink cocktails, have dinner, and a chance to win prizes. For $75, people can have cocktails and dinner. Golfers can also get community sponsorships for $25 and up.

Registration and lunch is between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., Tee time is at 12 p.m., cocktail hour runs from 5.p.m to 6 p.m., and dinner and awards take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funds raised from the day support the work of the PBA, including scholarships and youth programs.

Moore, the town's former DARE office, said the association hopes to give prizes to some of the top golfers.

"The prizes include gift baskets, sports tickets, golf apparel, clothing, and memorabilia," says Moore.
