German Doner Kebab Sets Opening Date In Westfield

The German Kebab franchise has more than 150 locations worldwide. Westfield would mark its second in New Jersey.

WESTFIELD, NJ — German Doner Kebab, a worldwide franchise, is has announced an opening date for its second New Jersey location in Westfield.

German Doner Kebab(GDK) will be opening at 125 E. Broad St. in Westfield on Monday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. The location was formerly home to Brummer's Chocolates (which closed in 2020 after 31 years in business).

Mayor Shelly Brindle, Town Council Members, along with the Chamber of Commerce will be present for the ribbon cutting.

German Doner Kebab is not your traditional kebab and instead takes kebabs to another level.

Its best seller is the original sandwich which comes with a triangle toasted waffle bread slathered with three signature sauces (yogurt, spicy, and garlic) and then topped with thinly sliced doner meat and lettuce, tomato, and cabbage.

Guests have the option to select beef, chicken, or both. All of the meat is served is halal.

"It's a very mighty piece of sandwich. It looks bigger than a burger," said the spokesperson.

Additionally, GDK serves vegetarian options with its jalapeno black bean patty.

Other menu items include the Doner quesadilla, Doner burger, Doner wrap, and a Doner Krunch burger that is topped with Doritos Cool Ranch chips.

Boss boxes are also offered which offer a choice of main, a nibble, and 4 different types of fries and a drink.

Expanding now into North America, the restaurant has more than 150 locations worldwide. Its first United States location and New Jersey location was at the American Dream in East Rutherford in 2021.
