Guitarist Peter Biedermann returns to Westfield Memorial Library

Guitarist Peter Biedermann returns to the Westfield Library on Wed Sept 13 7:00 pm to play from his newest recording Tales from the Desert.

(August 31, 2017) – On Wednesday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m., the Westfield Memorial Library will host guitarist Peter Biedermann. The library is located at 550 East Broad Street.

Peter Biedermann is a solo instrumental guitarist based in Green Valley, AZ who has been composing and performing for over 40 years. His background also includes stints in various group settings; most notably the bands PING, White Light, Serious Fun, Magic Spot and Amalgamation. The common thread throughout his musical background is crossing the boundaries of music without limits.

His hybrid contemporary style melds elements of American and European folk with jazz and blues shadings underpinned by subtle ambient electronics. Biedermann began focusing on performing original solo instrumentals beginning in 2000, and he now presents his music in intimate settings such as libraries, art galleries and house concerts.

He will focus on pieces from his latest recording, “Tales From The Desert” on a variety of 6 and 12 string guitars in unique tunings. While encouraging questions from the audience, he will also include some of the history and evolution of steel string guitar playing over the last 50+ years. Fans of fellow guitarists such as Leo Kottke, the British school (Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Davy Graham), Ralph Towner, Michael Hedges and Pierre Bensusan will enjoy this music.

The program is open to Westfield Memorial Library and MURAL cardholders. (MURAL cardholders belong to the 43 libraries that are part of the Middlesex Union Reciprocal Agreement Libraries.
