WESTFIELD, NJ — The West Glam, a family-owned hair and beauty salon in Westfield, is asking the community for help after a car crashed into the salon causing serious structural damage.

On Dec. 5, a 72-year-old Kenilworth woman driving a black 2023 Honda CRV hit the rear of the building at 281 E. South Avenue and penetrated the concrete wall of the building, said Westfield Police Chief Michael Battiloro.

"Thankfully, no one was injured, but the damage to the building is significant, and we will be closed for repairs for the next month or so," said the salon on its GoFundMe fundraising website.

While the salon is hopeful that insurance will cover the structural repairs, the loss in revenue during December - their busiest month of the year- is incredibly detrimental to their small business.

"As a local, family-run salon, we rely on this time to help support our team and help sustain our business throughout the year," said the salon.

The salon has since secured a temporary location to continue serving its clients at Roxxi Hair Studio, 2120 Lamberts Mill Rd, Scotch Plains, (inside the RWJ Fitness Center). However, they are still working to get back into their salon in Westfield.

"It's been awful and we don't yet have an ETA on when we'll be able to get back into our salon. It’s been a devastating experience," said Tatyana Sinn with the salon to Patch on Wednesday.

The GoFundMe is asking the community to help as they try to reopen.

"Any donation, gift card or product purchase, no matter how small, will directly contribute to getting us back on our feet as quickly as possible. Your generosity will help us continue to serve our community, bring our salon back to life, and keep our hardworking team employed during this difficult time," wrote the salon.
