Icy Conditions Delay School Start Time In Westfield

All Westfield Schools will be on a delayed opening schedule on Wednesday due to icy conditions.

WESTFIELD, NJ — All Westfield Public Schools will be on a delayed opening schedule on Wednesday "to allow time for the DPW and our buildings and grounds crews to address icy conditions," announced the district on Wednesday morning.

"Please travel safely!" said the district.

Temperatures dropped to around 13 degrees on Tuesday night. Towns in Union County saw between 2.2 and 1 inches of snow fall overnight on Monday which caused any wet surfaces to freeze.

There won't be much of a warm-up for the rest of the week either with temperatures staying around 25 to 30 degrees.

Thursday: Cloudy, with a high near 32. Southwest wind around 10 mph.

Friday Night: A chance of snow before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
