NETWORK FOR RESPONSIBLE PUBLIC POLICY HOSTS FIRST EVENT IN UNION COUNTY: THE IMPACT OF GERRYMANDERING ON THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS
Ridgewood, NJ, (October 17, 2018) – On Thursday, November 1, Network for Responsible Public Policy(NFRPP) will sponsor its first event in Union County: The Impact of Gerrymandering on the Democratic Process. Just several days before a critical mid-term election, the program will highlight how gerrymandering distorts the voting process by manipulating electoral districts to give an advantage to a specific political party.
Yurij Rudensky, who serves as Counsel with the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University, will lead the gerrymandering program. The program will be held at Westfield High School at 550 Dorian Road (in Cafeteria B) and starts at 7:30. Doors open at 7 pm. The event is free and open to the public. The program is co-sponsored by Westfield High School and the League of Women Voters of Berkeley Heights, New Providence, and Summit.
