Meet the Artist: Bruce Rigby At Art & Soul Galleries In Roselle Park

ROSELLE PARK, NJ - Art & Soul Galleries’ exhibition of Bruce Rigby’s Classic American Cars kicks off on Saturday, September 13th at 4 PM. The artist, Bruce Rigby, will be on hand for the opening in a “Meet the Artist” appearance. All are welcome to attend the show and there is no admission fee. Light refreshment will be served. Rigby’s meticulously detailed ‘car portraits’ were born of his nostalgia for his high school years spent in the milieu of cars, car shows and drag races. He refers to his auto paintings as ‘graphically distilled autobiographic statements of my appreciation of the beautifully sculpted autos of the 1930s through the 1950s.’

In his technique called zoning, Rigby interprets the three-dimensional forms into flat monochrome shapes. These shapes work to create photographic-like images of the cars, their reflective surfaces and other images visible in those surfaces. The Art & Soul Gallery show features acrylic on canvas originals, giclees on both canvas and paper, charcoal and pencil on paper. Framed and unframed pieces available. All of the works are available for purchase.

The exhibition kick-off coincides with a Car Show already taking place on Chestnut Street in Roselle Park, Discover Roselle Park Day, and RP Loves ART events that will take place throughout the day in the Borough.
