Panera Bread Closing Westfield Location

WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield location of Panera Bread is closing its doors when it lease ends on Dec. 20, the company announced.

"For years, the Panera Bread bakery-cafe on Broad Street has been privileged to serve our neighbors in Westfield. Panera continually invests in our bakery-cafes to ensure that guests have the dining experience they have come to expect from the brand," a statement issued from a Panera spokesperson told Patch.

"Unfortunately, in some locations, it is difficult to achieve the standards we believe will meet expectations. With the expiration of our lease on Broad Street, we have decided to close this bakery-cafe on December 20th," the statement continued.

Employees at the Westfield locations will be given opportunities to continue with Panera at nearby locations in Watchung, Springfield and Clark.
