NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ — A New Jersey Transit train struck and killed a man in Union County early Wednesday morning, an agency spokesperson said.

The man, who was hit by a train near the Murray Hill Station shortly after 5:50 a.m., has since been identified as Nagi Jacob, 74, of New Providence, NJ Transit spokesperson Kyalo Mulumba told Patch.

According to Mulumba, there were no reported injuries to the five customers or crew on board.

The train had left Gladstone at 4:29 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 5:46 a.m., NJ Transit said.

The incident is still being investigated by the NJ Transit Police as of Wednesday morning.

Service was temporarily suspended on the Gladstone Branch line between Murray Hill and Summit but has since resumed.
