Photo Release: Youth Baseball Wins Bridgewater Tournament
Westfield Blue 11s win over the weekend.

With a total team effort, the Westfield Blue 11's took home the hardware in a tough fought victory over the host Bridgewater National's in the Bridgewater Summer Blast 11U "B" Division by a score of 13-9 in extra innings. Previously unbeaten Bridgewater scored five in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game - but Westfield never quit and came back with four in the seventh and their defense held to preserve the win. Westfield Blue advanced to the title game by edging out the Westfield White team in a very well played game by a 5-2 margin. Earlier this season this same Westfield team upset top seeded and also previously unbeaten East Brunswick in the East Brunswick Slugfest only to be edged out by Hazlet in that Championship game. Against Bridgewater, Westfield was led by outstanding pitching by starter Lee Papadopoulos, Chris O'Connor and Nate Reyes. Defensively Jack Johnson made a game saving catch in the outfield while Matt Feinberg anchored the infield with some outstanding defensive play. Hunter Hagen and Kevin Fuller did a great job behind the dish keeping a very aggressive Nationals team from taking extra bases. Robbie Faktor led a Westfield hitting explosion along with Jake Obsgarten, Miles Brancatella, Jason Glickstein and Matt Cetlin. Reyes also backed up his outstanding relief effort by driving a two run blast over the center field fence. Stevie Dimaria was Westfield's secret weapon, keeping Head Coach Scott Factor informed all weekend long as to what the Nationals had done throughout the tourney. This week Blue sets out to close out their outstanding season by competing for the New Providence Green League 11 year old Championship!
