Popular Music Comingles In Mass At Westfield Church
St. Paul's new 5 p.m. Saturday service blends church liturgy with the music of popular artists.

WESTFIELD, NJ - St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on East Broad Street is launching a new weekly service that weaves the thoughtful songs of great popular artists into worship Saturday.
Beginning March 9 at 5 p.m., these services will include a lively message, Holy Communion, and songs that people can use to spark their prayer and contemplation, officials said.
“God is alive and active in all good human endeavors and speaks through our culture, sometimes in the questions and insights of spiritual seekers,” says Fr. Duncan Johnston, Rector of St Paul’s. “We hope that many people who see themselves as on a spiritual journey, but who find conventional church services too remote, will experience this as a place where they can grow. There are many in our community who feel that the Church no longer meets them where they are. Inspirations Mass is a venue for questions, acceptance, and honoring where people are at.”
