Rob Garrison - Your Westfield School Board Candidate, My Husband

Vote Column 3-2 for Maya's Dad

Rob and I moved to Westfield in 2005. At the time, we were newlyweds looking for a place to call our first home. We searched the entire state and chose Westfield for its family-friendly atmosphere and incredible schools. In 2009, we were blessed beyond words with the birth of our daughter Maya. As Maya was entering the first grade in 2015 and the residents had passed the third school bond referendum in five years, Rob asked how could he make a difference. His solution: run for the Westfield School Board.

I was not surprised by Rob’s decision because he has spent the better part of the past two decades serving his community through his work in public administration and volunteering for a non-profit that runs programs for school children and the disabled.

Rob’s drive and determination comes from his ability to overcome tremendous adversity as a child growing up in the foster care system. Instead of being another statistic or a victim of the system, he decided to rise up and take control of his life.

During his time on the board, Rob has fought for fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency. His efforts have led to a more open procurement process in the hiring of professionals and the spending of taxpayer dollars. He has worked closely with the administration to improve the safety and security of our students and schools through careful, strategic planning.

Rob has sacrificed an enormous amount of time from both his work and family. Maya was just six when Rob joined the board. He’s missed bath time, bedtime, reading to his daughter, and walking her to school. All things they both love dearly and hold very special. Yet he is asking residents to re-elect him.
Rob is running for re-election because he understands that there is more to be done. Westfield Schools are a model for all, but he keeps striving to find ways for improvement.
I know my husband. He will maintain his integrity, never back down or give up. He’ll double-down and continue to focus on solutions.

On Election Day, November 6, I hope voters will keep this in mind when they go to the polls by pressing the button for Column 3-2 so that we can continue Moving Forward Together with my husband and Maya's Dad Rob Garrison.

Warm Regards,

Erika Vargas-Garrison
