WESTFIELD, NJ - There are five seats on the Westfield Board of Education up for grabs in November and eight candidates looking for a spot on the dais, according to the Union County Clerk's Office.
Incumbents Amy Root of Harrison Avenue, J. Brendan Galligan of Pierson Street, Michael Bielen of Shadowlawn Drive and Robert S. Garrison of Kimball Avenue are running under the banner of "Tradition of Excellence."
Root, Galligan and Bielen are vying for a full three-year term and are opposed by Andrew Bauer of Knollwood Terrace and Patrick Justin Fahey of Columbus Avenue. Fahey has the slogan "Keep Kids Safe" attached to his campaign.

Garrison is running for a two-year unexpired term and he is being opposed by Noelle Ebler of Avon Road.
Brian Morrissey of Benson Place is running for a one-year unexpired term, according to the filing paperwork.

The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
