Severe Weather Cancels Fanwood's Summer Fan Jam
The 6th annual festival was set to be held on Sunday, July 9. However, due to the chance of thunder and lightning, it was canceled.
FANWOOD, NJ — The highly anticipated Fanwood 6th annual Summer Fan Jam has been canceled due to severe weather that is forecasted to include the chance of thunder and lightning.
"The decision was made unanimously by the various organizers. While we didn’t want to cancel, the safety of the public is our top priority. Thank you for your understanding," said an alert from organizers on Saturday, July 8.
The festival is held annually at LaGrande Park and includes music, food, kids activities, a classic car show, and more.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Heat index values as high as 95. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Sunday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. High near 82. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Sunday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Low around 69. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
