“Arriving officers encountered Hill’s common-law wife leaving the complex with her children, and when the officers approached Hill, he retreated inside the apartment and refused to respond to demands that he surrender.”

The man had reportedly barricaded himself alone in the building and police have closed down roads leading to the complex.

Hill was wanted over the weekend for simple assault and making terrorist threats after he and his common law wife got into an argument. His wife was able to flee.

The Union County Emergency Response SWAT team had been dispatched to the Villa Apartments in Springfield to reach a barricaded “suspect” located in the complex, according to Myfox9.

A neighbor told nj.com that he witnessed about 15 police officers show up to the area before 9 a.m. this morning and that police have been to the apartment complex, located on Springfield Avenue, multiple times this week. Police on the scene closed down roads in the area and asked the FAA to turn away news helicopters.
