RAHWAY, NJ — A couple of teenagers dressed as bushes have been giving locals quite the fright recently in Rahway River Park.

Covered in sticks and grass and other debris to mimic a bush, the teens would hide in the park and then jump out to scare park visitors.

The prank was getting attention not only from locals but also from law enforcement.

The Union County Police Department, which patrols the park, was tipped off by Rahway Police by the teens activity, Union County Public Information Officer Sebastian D'Elia said.

D'Elia noted the teens could even be charged if caught in action.

"They could be charged with anything. With summonses to more serious charges depending on what they are caught doing," D'Elia said.

Serious charges include trespassing or criminal mischief.

"The bottom line is we don't really encourage this behavior in the park because someone could get hurt. They could alarm someone elderly," D'Elia said.

"We are more or less doing this for fun," said one of the self-proclaimed "Bushmen" on a video by nj.com. "We are more or less out here to have fun and give people something to talk about."

The teens have been doing the stunt for about a week now.
