Linden Police Officer ID'd As Man Killed By Train
Breaking: A candlelight vigil will be held Tuesday for Linden Officer Daniel Kuczynski, who was fatally hit by an NJ Transit train Monday.
LINDEN, NJ — Linden Police Officer Daniel Kuczynski has been identified as the "trespasser" who was killed after being struck by a train while on the tracks near Stiles Street in Linden on Monday, authorities confirmed.
Kuczynski, who was off duty at the time of the incident, served as the director of the Linden Police Athletic League for the past nine years.
“As Police Officers, we strive to make a difference, and through his work Danny had a profound impact on our city’s children,” Linden Police Chief Jonathan Parham said. “We ask that you keep Danny's family, friends, and coworkers in your thoughts and prayers as we deal with this painful loss. He will be missed.”

Kuczynski was fatally hit by the Northeast Corridor train 3124 at 7:40 a.m. on June 12 just west of the Linden train station, Jim Smith, spokesman for NJ Transit said. The train had left from New Brunswick at 7:16 a.m. and was headed to Newark Penn Station.
"The circumstances leading up to and surrounding this tragedy remain under investigation by the Amtrak Police Department," Linden Police announced.

There were no other injuries reported to the approximately 800 customers and crew aboard the train.
Services on Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines' eastbound train services were both suspended and then delayed during the investigation. Services have since resumed.
A candlelight vigil will be held in Kuczynski's memory Tuesday, June 13 in Dobson Park at 7 p.m.
