Westfield Announces Winners of Gingerbread House Contest

A kindergarten class, an individual, and two groups will get their prizes at the Town Council meeting on Jan. 14.

WESTFIELD, NJ — The organizers of Westfield's second annual Gingerbread Contest have announced four winning entries, whose designers will reap sweet rewards.

In the contest, entrants were to build a house, iconic Westfield building, village, or other structure that was not larger than 2 x 2 feet.

Community members voted online for winners in four categories: grand prize, kids'-only effort (age 14 and younger), family effort, and iconic Westfield building.

The winners are, according to the town:

Grand Prize: Iconic Westfield Shopping by Anastasia Harrison.

Iconic Westfield: Arcanum Hall by Tara and Robert Donnelly and Amy Behr-Shields

Family Effort Winner: Whoville by Mackenzie Wilson, Emily Rego, Hannah Everett, and Natalie DuHaime

Kids' Only Winner: Lincoln School Playground by Mrs. Corea's PM Kindergarten Class, Lincoln School.

On Facebook, grand prize winner Anastasia Orlando-Harrison commented, "It’s inspired by Bovella's Pastry Shoppe and the building one door down. I love some of the architecture in Westfield."

Winners will get their prizes at the Jan. 14 Town Council meeting.
