Westfield Area YMCA And Jersey Mike’s Subs Team Up For A “Day Of Giving”
WESTFIELD AREA YMCA AND JERSEY MIKE'S SUBS TEAM UP FOR A "DAY OF GIVING"

The Westfield Area YMCA is joining forces with Jersey Mike’s Subs on East Broad Street in Westfield for the 7th Annual March “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign. The campaign culminates in the Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 29th. On that day between 11:00 am – 9:00 pm, our local Jersey Mike’s will donate 100 percent of the day’s sales to the Westfield Area YMCA’s Annual Support Campaign for strong kids, families and seniors. Proceeds of the month of giving will benefit nearly 150 local charities nationwide.
“The Y is thrilled to have been selected as one of the partners from around the country and very thankful and appreciative of Jersey Mike’s generosity to the Annual Support Campaign,” stated Bonnie Cohen, Westfield Area YMCA Communication and Development Director.
Jersey Mike’s, a fast-casual sub sandwich franchise with more than 1,500 locations open and under development nationwide, believes that making a sub sandwich and making a difference can be one and the same. Jersey Mike’s offers A Sub Above® serving authentic fresh sliced subs on freshly baked bread – the same recipe it started with in 1956 - and is passionate about giving back to its local communities.

“Giving…making a difference in someone’s life” has been the mission of Jersey Mike’s from the beginning. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised more than $20 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 1.5 million free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes. “I would like to extend a personal invitation to you and your family to visit Jersey Mike’s Subs throughout the month of March and especially on the Day of Giving when 100 percent of sales - every penny - goes to help a great local cause,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO, who started the company when he was only 17 years old.
Thanks to the Annual Support Campaign for strong kids, families and seniors, at the Westfield Area YMCA no one who lives or works in Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside or Westfield and is experiencing a bona fide financial hardship is denied the opportunity to participate. In 2016, the Y provided $410,103 in direct financial assistance to 276 individuals, primarily for child care and summer day camp services. For more information, please visit www.westfieldynj.org.
