Westfield Bakery Named Best In Union County

Bovella's Pastry Shoppe is one of NJ.com's 21 best bakeries in New Jersey.

WESTFIELD, NJ - Bovella's Pastry Shoppe has been named one of the best bakeries in New Jersey in a report from NJ.com. According to the story, one bakery was chosen to represent each county in New Jersey.

Bovella's Pastry Shoppe topped the Union County offerings, beating out their Mountainside counterpart as well as Natale's Summit Bakery and Pinho's Bakery in Roselle. Bovella's is owned by Westfield High School graduate Ralph Bencivenga and is located at 101 E Broad Street.

According to the story, Bovella's roots are in Plainfield where Michael and Rita Rove opened a bakery there in 1949. The business moved to Westfield in 1978 and Bencivenga introduced a European-style cafe to the traditional bakery business.
