Westfield Crew Takes to the Beach at Oyster Bay

Up next: Westfield partakes in a regatta on their home turf, competing against St. Joes and Rumson on the Raritan River in New Brunswick.

This weekend, Westfield Crew traveled to Long Island for the Long Island Junior Rowing Championships in Oyster Bay, NY. A beautiful venue and sunny weather set the stage for a day of competitive rowing.

Competing in the Womens Novice quad were Abbey Wilson, Julia Simpson, Izzy D’Olier-Lees and Danielle Gabuzda, placing third in their event and receiving medals for their achievement.

The Mens Novice B quad manned by Jasper Baur, Kevin Law, Blake Fallon and Will Harmer placed 5th in their event.

The Womens Lightweight Varsity double was rowed by Charlotte Dreizen and Katie Eliades who pushed hard for a 6th place finish.

Emily Simpson, Amanda Christian, Alex Colucci and Logan Schwartz rowed the Womens JV B quad, placing 4th by less than a second.

Womens JV A quad was propelled by Melanie Snyder, Ann-Sophie Koglin, Helen Keating and Julia Abbattista, who turned in a 6th place finish.

The Mens JV quad manned by Ben Howell, Alex Zornitsky, Alex Schneider, Chip Pipala gave it all they had and managed to keep a solid 4th place finish, coming in only one second behind the 3rd place boat.

The Womens Varsity quad rowed by Sandy Choi, Jenny Amador, Marissa Jennings and  Sara Hoerrner came in 6th by less than half a second, making for an exciting race.

Drew Mellusi, Matt Lazzarotti, Mike Paone and David Adsit were in the Mens Varsity quad, placing 6th in their race.
