Westfield Extends Pool Hours To Beat Heat

WESTFIELD, NJ — As scorching temperatures rise to dangerous levels this week, Westfield has extended its pool hours on Wednesday.

The Westfield Memorial Pool will be open on Wednesday, June 19 from 1 to 7:30 p.m. for the holiday. The Lap Pool will be closed until 6 p.m. for Swim Team trials.

Thursday, June 20, hours will return to normal from 4 to 8 p.m.

Friday, June 21, the pool will open full-time for the remainder of the summer. Doors open at 10 a.m. for Kiddie, and 12 p.m. for all other pools.

A heat advisory remains in effect for the Westfield area from noon on Tuesday through 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service(NWS).

"A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time," according to NWS.

Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 91.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 93.

Sunday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73.
