Westfield Library offers three new museum passes and Top 10 Lists

The Westfield Library has expanded the Museum Pass Program with 3 more museums. See the Top 10 Lists of Adult & Kids Books borrowed in 2021.

(January 13, 2022) The Westfield Memorial Library continues to expand the Friends of the Library Museum Pass program with the addition of three museums that have opened up to the public.

The Library has one pass for the Children's Museum of Manhattan. The museum requires a timed-entry ticket, and patrons must show proof of vaccination for everyone age 5 and over.

The Library has two passes for the New York Transit Museum. It also requires a timed- entry ticket, and patrons must show proof of vaccination for everyone age 5 and over.

The Museum of the Moving Image has provided the Library with one-time use passes. Each pass is good for one individual, and a patron may take up to four tickets. These passes don't have to be returned to the library.

Westfield Memorial Library patrons who are in good standing may borrow museum passes to the eleven other museums currently open as well. They include the Morris Museum, NY Historical Society, Montclair Art Museum, Museum of Early Trade and Crafts, Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, Frick Madison Collection, and the Guggenheim Museum, along with the American Museum of Natural History, Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, Museum of Modern Art and the Storm King Art Center.

The list of the top ten adult and children’s books that were checked out in 2021 has been compiled. The adult list includes: The Last Thing He Told Me: A Novel by Laura Dave; The Midnight Library by Matt Haig; That Summer: A Novel by Jennifer Weiner; Malibu Rising: A Novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid; The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah; The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller; The Paris Library: a novel by Janet Skeslien Charles; People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry; Anxious People: A Novel by Fredrik Backman; and The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz.

The Library has many of these titles in book form as well as ebooks and eaudiobooks.

The top ten children’s books that were borrowed include: The Thank You Book by Mo Willems; I Am Invited to a Party! by Mo Willems; There is a Bird on Your Head! by Mo Willems; Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck by Jeff Kinney; Listen to My Trumpet! by Mo Willems; I Really Like Slop! by Mo Willems; Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney; I Will Take a Nap! by Mo Willems; Pigs Make Me Sneeze! by Mo Willems; and Can I Play, Too? by Mo Willems.

Patrons and other parties interested in the inner workings of the library can now have access to the Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes online. Visit the library’s website, click on the About Us tab, Board of Trustees and scroll down to the Minutes and month(s) chosen. The URL is https://wmlnj.org/library-board-of-trustees/.

Currently the hours for the library are Monday - Thursday 9:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; and Sunday 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Curbside service continues for full-service library cardholders during those same hours Monday-Thursday, and Friday and Saturday.

To place an order, patrons should log into their accounts and place a hold on the book(s) they would like. Materials will be ready inside the library the day after the order is placed (with the exception of orders placed on Saturday. They are available on Monday.)
